3D Props Artist — Train Station Tycoon
Train Station Tycoon needs props: station furniture, signage, machinery, service vehicles, and platform decor. You will produce 3D assets ready for integration into Unity, working remotely on a freelance basis.
The role
Train Station Tycoon is Abyssal Interactive's next game: a management game where you take control of a railway station, solo or with friends. From a small halt to a 30-track hub, players assign platforms, manage their teams and deal with real-time incidents. The game is built in Unity and will ship on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux).
A living station is, above all, hundreds of objects filling it: benches, signs, vending machines, luggage carts, lamp posts, barriers, tooling, maintenance vehicles… That is where you come in.
We are looking for a freelance 3D artist to take over props production for the game, working directly with the art direction and the development team. You work remotely, in asset batches scoped together, with a clear brief, references and quick feedback on every delivery. You see your assets land in-game build after each update.

Your missions
- Model station and environmental props based on briefs, references, and concepts: furniture, signage, vending machines, technical equipment, platform and concourse elements, and service vehicles.
- Produce optimized models: clean topology, adherence to polygon budgets, neat UVs, and LODs where necessary.
- Texture and apply vertex painting in line with the game's art direction.
- Deliver assets ready for import into Unity: naming, scale, pivots, hierarchy, and collisions compliant with our standards.
- Create variations (colors, wear, sizes) and propose modular kits where appropriate.
- Incorporate team feedback and iterate quickly on each batch.
What we're looking for
- A props or environment portfolio demonstrating your modeling experience.
- Solid experience in game asset production (Blender or Maya).
- An eye for detail and consistency: your objects must work together within the same scene and at the same scale.
- Autonomy, reliability in meeting deadlines, and clear, regular remote communication.
- A status allowing for freelance invoicing (micro-enterprise, limited company, etc.).
- Fluency in French or English.
Nice to have
- Experience with Unity: model import, URP materials, prefabs, an understanding of what is expensive at runtime. A real plus.
- A taste for railway or industrial settings, or for management games.
- Notions of modular modelling and environment kits.
- Experience modelling vehicles or machinery.
- A culture of management / tycoon games and their readability.
What we offer
- A fully remote freelance engagement, on hours you organise yourself.
- A quick start on a first batch, then a long-term collaboration if both sides are happy.
- Precise briefs, visual references and a single point of contact for feedback.
- An independent project and a small team where your work is visible and credited.
The hiring process
- Application: the form below, with your portfolio and your rates. We reply within two weeks.
- Video call (30 min): your background, the way you work, the project and its constraints.
- Paid test: a small station prop to produce from a brief, to check we speak the same language.
- First batch: we start on a first batch of assets, with a scope and a quote agreed together.
Apply
A portfolio is essential: a link to ArtStation, Sketchfab, your website or a PDF. If possible, state your daily rate or per-asset price, and your availability.
